Stitch: A Literary Comforter
Collaborative Performance Piece
Stitch encompassed everything idyllic about curling up with an interesting book in a comfortable nook. The star of the show was the "literary comforter" which was hand stitched to submerge the project in a sense of community that comes with sharing stories. It was stitched to pages from books (sourced from an independent used bookstore which would otherwise recycle them) that the participants felt a strong bond to. Attendees were encouraged to bring their own books to the meet to share as everyone sat under the comforter, a projector showed it's own stream of stories to music, and exchanged dialogue on books, authors, and stories in general.
