Short: Contagious Color
Because gray is boring, and standard mass-produced bikes are only so "you"; live in color and don't forget to pass it along.

Zoetrope: Choice on a Spectrum
Inspired by Eric Dyer's work on zoetropes, I created a small structure to physically create a spectrum on which Muslim women endure the perceptions of themselves in the media. Whether it's a burkini ban in France or a law to wear a headscarf in Iran, the only missing component is the representation of the women being discussed. These are only the two images portrayed in the mainstream media. The argument portrayed in this project is that stripping a Muslim woman's headscarf off is equally as humiliating as forcing it on her, just as it would be for any other woman and any other article of clothing. Because, ultimately, what is being ignored is her right to exercise her choice and her consent.
The zoetrope shows a Muslim woman without a face, in reference to the narrative of news culture which discusses her as "she", but rarely talks to or addresses her as "you". She's getting her headscarf taken off and on by a hand, which is representative of governments and the society's perceptions of how women should dress.
Project Row Houses: Love Us or Leave Us Alone
Under the scope of gentrification plaguing the Third Ward, this short interactive "quiz" reads like a prose poem. If you scroll to the bottom of the page, it offers you two options. Click on either to understand what they stand for.

Emissions Anonymous: Working with "The Yes Men"
As part of Counter Current, an art festival organized by the Mitchell Center for the Arts, The Yes Men were featured as resident artists who worked on a project called "Emissions Anonymous".
Our team consisted of volunteers from around UH and greater Houston who decided to take on Volkswagen for lying about their emissions tests. The Yes Men are known for impersonations and so the obvious idea was to walk as Volkswagen representatives through the Houston Art Car Parade and apologize to the public for harming them with fumes emitted from their cars.
I contributed my design and digital media skills to the project, and was part of the street team.
Stitch: A Collaborative Performance Piece
Stitch encompassed everything idyllic about curling up with an interesting book in a comfortable nook. The star of the show was the "literary comforter" which was hand stitched to submerge the project in a sense of community that comes with sharing stories. It was stitched to pages from books (sourced from an independent used bookstore which would otherwise recycle them) that the participants felt a strong bond to. Attendees were encouraged to bring their own books to the meet to share as everyone sat under the comforter, a projector showed it's own stream of stories to music, and exchanged dialogue on books, authors, and stories in general. Presented at Aurora Picture Show.
